The first Aspen Valley Marathon was run in 2010. There is now also an Aspen Valley Half Marathon and a 5K race.

Aspen Valley Marathon Route
Runners start from Wagner Park in Aspen, finishing in Basalt Lions Park.

The race takes runners through many scenic areas in and around Aspen, along the historic Rio Grande Trail. It is mainly downhill providing the chance of a PR.
