The Jovia Long Island Marathon was first run in the 1970s and was originally known as the "Earth Day Marathon". It is now part of the Long Island Festival of Races which includes a half marathon and a 10K race.



Long Island Marathon Route
The Long Island Marathon runs from Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Uniondale to Eisenhower Park in Meadow.

The start line on Charles Lindbergh Blvd next to the Nassau Coliseum. From there the route heads westward looping round Nassau County, passing many local landmarks such as RXR's Omni Building, the Mitchel Athletic Complex & home to the New York Islanders, the Nassau Coliseum and Museum Row. From there the race follows onto Merrick Avenue, then School Street, Railroad Avenue and Post Avenue before heading onto Jericho Turnpike.

From Jericho Turnpike, runners turn onto Brush Hollow Road. From there they follow the route into Wantagh Parkway which stretches from the 9 mile point to 17 miles before turning back to the 23 mile point and onto Carman Avenue and the final stretch to the finish line in Eisenhower Park.
