The Diablo Trail Marathon is a challenging hilly race. However, with stunning views of the surrounding San Francisco Bay area, it attracts much interest. There is also a Diablo Half Marathon as well as 10 mile and 4 mile races.

This course is perfect for fans of hills.

Runners start at the Mitchell Canyon Trailhead. Almost immediately they are faced with a steady incline, climbing six miles to a peak of almost 4,000 feet. They are then rewarded the payback of a decline, if sometimes interrupted, for the next 8 miles. The remaining 12 miles is a near repeat of the first 14. Both peaks offer stunning views that makes the effort more than worthwhile.
