The Foot Traffic Flat Marathon, in Sauvie Island (15 minutes north of Portland, OR), is described as "the best Fourth of July race tradition in the Northwest".

Starting and finishing at the Pumpkin Patch, runners follow a course that includes a scenic clockwise lap around the island as well as an out-and-back section along Sauvie Island Rd. As the name suggests, the course is very flat, making it a perfect course for runners chasing a PR or Boston qualification.
