Georgia Marathon Route
The Georgia Marathon starts at Atlanta's Centennial Park. From there it heads past the Five Points area onto the Midtown section of the city at Mile 2. Runners are then directed away from Atlanta taking in some interesting sites on the way to the very pleasant Decatur. On the way they pass the birthplace of Martin Luther King (501 Auburn Avenue), as well as the Carter Centre (library and current office to the ex-US President) and a number of scenic parks including Candler Park and Deepdene Park.

After the half-way point in Decatur, the race circles back to Centennial Square via some of Atlanta's very affluent and scenic neibourhoods. Taking runners via North Decatur, the route passes by the plush residences of Druid Hills around the the 17-18 mile stage. They then pass the desirable Virginia Highlands at the 21 mile point before heading towards Midtown and finally, the cheering crowds back at Centennial Park.
