The Grandma's Marathon was first run in 1977, with only 150 people taking part. It is now a popular race
with 20,000 participants. Other races are also taking place as part of the same
race weekend such as the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon.
Grandma's Marathon Route
The course is point-to-point, running along the impressive north shore of Lake Superior.
The race starts on Old Highway 61, near Two Harbors, Minnesota and finishes in Duluth's Canal Park near
Grandma's Restaurant. Runners are supported all along the route by enthusiastic volunteers, spectators and
live entertainment, cheering runners on their way to the finish line.
