The Mad Marathon was first run in 2011. There is also a Mad Half Marathon and relay races.

Mad Marathon Route
The race, sometimes described as "The World's Most Beautiful Marathon", runs through breathtaking Vermont countryside on dirt roads with stunning views of the Green Mountains, farmlands, charming villages and fields of the Vermont cows.

Starting from the Mad River Green in central Waitsfield Village runners loop through the the surrounding countryside until reaching Bridge Street and the last mile sprint to the finish line.

* Entry Fee : $125 (until May 1), $145 (until Jul 1), $155 (race week)
* Registration Deadline : When the race is full.
