The OC Marathon was created to promote and implement obesity prevention measure that promote exercise and improved nutritional habits among children.
OC Marathon Route
The course has a net downhill elevation from start to finish, with only a few minor hills, so there is a good chance for a quick race time. It travels through beautiful coastal communities, including Newport Beach, Irvine and Costa Mesa.
The race starts outside Fashion World on Newport Center Drive. For the first 10 miles runners pass along the Pacific Ocean and Newport Beach Back Bay,
enjoying sea views and a gradual downhill elevation. The route then moves away from the coast, but remains mainly flat. There are
a few small hills, the worst being a 40 inch incline slightly over a quarter mile in length at the 23 miles stage, just after leaving Fairview Park.
However, despite these hills, this race is one of the flattest many participants will enjoy.
Runners reach the finish line at the OC Fair and Event Center where all finishers will be awarded with their medal.
