The Seattle Marathon first took place in 1970 when a group of friends at the University of Washington decided to organise their own marathon. There is also a half marathon and marathon and half marathon walks. There is also a virtual event, to be completed by December 15.

Seattle Marathon Route
The course is described as rolling with some hilly sections and great views of Lake Washington and downtown Seattle.

The race starts close to the Seattle Center at 5th and Harrison, next to the Experience Music Project. Runners will be directed along downtown streets, towards and across the the Lake Washington floating bridge. The then turn around, coming back across the bridge and turning west along the shores of beautiful Lake Washington. After reaching Seward Park, the course turns back eastward along the lake shore, passing through the Arboretum and on towards the finish line at Seattle Center.

* Cut-off Time : Runners will be expected to finish within 6 hours.
* Pasta Party : There will be a Carbo Load dinner at 6:00pm on the Saturday before the race at The Westin Seattle.
