The Steamtown Marathon, in Scranton, Pennsylvania has been described, by may as fun race with a small town atmosphere. It is an official Boston Marathon qualifier.

Steamtown Marathon Route
Being almost continually downhill, this race is fast and will suit anyone looking to improve their PR.

The race follows a point-to-point course taking runners through 14 local communities. It starts at Forest City High School and follows surrounding urban and then rural highways with a brief 2 mile stretch of trail beside the Lackawanna River. Then, after a few very brief inclines, the race ends going downhill at N. Washington Ave.
