The Lake Placid Marathon is hosted by the Lake Placid Olympic Village next to the picturesque Adirondack Mountains.

Lake Placid Marathon Route
The route is out-and-back with two loops. As well as being scenic it has been described as moderately challenging with a few steep hills. The course is mainly asphalt.

Marathon runners, like those running the half marathon, start on Parkside Drive next to the Olympic Speedskating Oval. From there they run clockwise around Mirror Lake. Next, the route reaches Route 73, from where it proceeds along to the Horseshow Grounds before turning onto River Road for a 2.8 mile out-and-back to complete the first loop.

The second loop starts from Route 73. Runners follow the same route as the previous loop, but when returning from River Road they will carry on to the end of the race battling with a short but harsh hill climb just before the finish line.
