Parts of New Orleans are still recovering from the floods of Hurricaine Katrina. Despite this the city still manages to put on an impressive marathon race.

New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon Route
The Mardi Gras Marathon is a flat and fast course. The race begins outside the Louisiana Superdome. Runners then pass through the French Quarter via world reknowned Bourbon Street and Royal Street before racing along St. Charles Avenue on to Audubon Park. They then turn into Prytania Street. The course then proceeds via the Garden District back towards the Superdome and the half way mark.

The second half of the race takes runners thorugh Canal Street, Moss Street, past picturesque Bayou St. John and on to the City Park. Runners circle the park before returning to the Superdrome once more where they will cross the finish line.

* Charity Places : There are no specific charity places, but the New Orleans Mardi Gras Marathon supports The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Runners are invited to join their team.
