The Salt Lake City Marathon is an impressive race, run completely within the Salt Lake City.
It first took place in 2004 and is accompanied by a half marathon and 5K.
Salt Lake City Marathon Route
The course is flat to downhill with much of the race being downhill. This is broadly welcomed.
The race starts at the Olympic Legacy Bridge on the University of Utah campus, previously site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Village.
The undulating course then skirts through Holladay, Murray, South Salt Lake and Salt Lake City and County.
Runners are then directed around the foot of the impressive Wasatch Mountains, passing by pleasant neighborhoods and
stylish estates, winding through Salt Lake's wide streets towards Liberty Park and the city center.
The last stretch is quite memorable for all participants. Greeted by thumping music and crowds of enthusiastic crowds spurring the
runners on, they head towards downtown Salt Lake and the spectacular finish at the Olympic Legacy Plaza.
