The Yonkers Marathon is the second oldest marathon in the world. There is also a Yonkers Half Marathon and a 5K race.

Yonkers Marathon Route
The route has been described as hilly and challenging. Marathon runners follow two laps of the half marathon course.

Runners start near the riverfront on Buena Vista Avenue. They follow a clockwise route leading north along the Warburton Street, close to the river. The first few miles are particularly scenic, looking down on the Hudson River. For the remainder of the race runners are takes through urban and industrial areas of the city before looping back in the direction of the start/finish area. After the second lap participants are directed to the finish line on the boardwalk.
